Sea to Sky fire officially out: Coastal Fire Centre

Sixteen days after it began, the Strip Creek fire is out.

The wildfire started burning along the Sea to Sky Highway between Lions Bay and Horseshoe Bay on June 23.

The fire was officially declared out on July 9, Dorthe Jakobsen, fire information officer with Coastal Fire Centre, told The Chief on July 12.

This wildfire is believed to have been human-caused.

There have been 488 wildfires in B.C. this year, 42 were sparked in the last seven days, according to the B.C. Wildfire Dashboard. There are currently 31 active wildfires in the province.
