While exact timelines are unknown, the Sea to Sky Gondola says it’s hoping to reopen next spring.
“This is longer than any of us had hoped but we have to live with the reality of the situation and move forward responsibly,” reads an email update to passholders.
The gondola said orders have been placed for a replacement cable and new cabins.
“We will reopen with a brand new haul rope and a completely new line of 30 cabins,” the update continues.
“While some of our current cabins appear to be undamaged, we want your confidence in us to be as strong as it was before so complete replacement is our way of holding true to the trust you have placed in us.”
The gondola says it will honor season passes as if they were frozen on the morning of Aug. 10.
On opening day, the company said passes will have the exact amount of time left on it as of Aug. 10. No days will be lost.
In the meantime, gondola season passholders can receive discounts when they show their pass at some Squamish and Vancouver businesses.
