Section of Coquitlam Crunch closed for maintenance

The city of Coquitlam will temporarily shut down the Coquitlam Crunch’s west side stairs to beat back vegetation and perform stair maintenance.

The closure will run from Wednesday, May 15, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Thursday, May 16, the upper portion of the stairs will remain closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The east side stairs will remain open throughout the maintenance. City workers will erect signs and barriers to make it clear which parts of the trail hikers should avoid.

The Coquitlam Crunch is a popular section of the City of Coquitlam’s 90 km trail system. In summer, the 2.2-km trail receives over 50,000 visitors per month.
