The Sea to Sky Corridor wasn’t the only the place touched by deadly traffic accidents in the last few days.
RCMP say including the incident north of Squamish on Sunday, there were six fatalities that occurred on B.C. highways since Thursday, which resulted from six separate accidents.
Chetwynd RCMP report the driver of a pickup was killed in a single-vehicle collision Nov. 29. The accident occurred on Highway 29 near Jackfish Lake Road. The passenger sustained minor injuries.
On Nov. 30, a two-vehicle collision was reported on Highway 1 at Main Street in Lytton. The lone female driver of a Ford Fusion pulled out onto the highway in front of a pickup truck with a lone male driver. The woman driving the Fusion died from her injuries in hospital.
A three-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 1 at Mountain Highway in North Vancouver on Dec. 1. Police say a westbound vehicle on Highway 1 veered into the oncoming lanes and collided with an eastbound pickup truck and another car that had been following. The lone male driver of the westbound vehicle died as a result of his injuries.
A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Dec. 2 about 30 kilometres north of Squamish. A northbound Subaru with a lone female driver crossed the centre line and collided with two southbound vehicles. The driver of the Subaru died at the scene and the occupants in the other vehicles received minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
A head-on collision occurred on Highway 1, about 15 kilometres west of Salmon Arm. An eastbound Ford pickup truck crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck. Two other westbound vehicles were caught up in the collision. The lone male driver of the Ford pickup died.
A head-on collision occurred on Highway 97 near Buckhorn Lake Road, about 10 kilometres south of Prince George on Dec. 3 at approximately 1 a.m. Upon arrival, it was determined that a northbound Ford F150 with three occupants crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a southbound semi-truck. The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene.
