Coquitlam RCMP are investigating after a body was found in the 3000 block of Gordon Avenue Wednesday morning.

While the cause of death has yet to be determined, Coquitlam RCMP Const. John Graham told The Tri-City News that the circumstances are not considered suspicious.

"At this time, it it still under investigation," he said, also adding: "Foul play has been ruled out."

As first reported by CTV News, the body was discovered at around 8 a.m. Wednesday in a field near the homeless shelter at 3030 Gordon Ave. Graham said the BC Coroners Service was on the scene and would be working to determine the cause of death.

The body has been identified, he added, but police are not releasing any names until the family has been notified.
