For the ninth time in 11 season, the Bruins senior girls won the Britannia invitational basketball tournament.

The 42nd annual affair was held at the newly minted Mike Evans Gymnasium from Jan. 14 to 16. Before the opening game, the gym's new name was revealed, to the delight of all but the surprise of no one but Evans. Read more here.

In the championship game, the Bruins knocked off Richmond's McNair Marlins 80 - 65. Julian Duong was  named the tournament MVP.

Burnaby Mountain finished third, Pitt Meadows fourth, Eric Hamber fifth and Magee sixth in the eight-team tournament.

In the most recent senior girls AA provincial basketball rankings released Dec. 17, the Bruins are outside the top 10 but did earn an honourable mention.

In the boys tournament, the Bruins finished fifth overall. The North Shore's Windsor Dukes claimed top spot, defeating the David Thompson Trojans 82 - 73 in the final. RC Palmer finished third, Eric Hamber fourth, and Templeton sixth.
