Two fire trucks were called to Lord Byng elementary on Tuesday morning, in response to alarms going off at the Steveston school.

Students were quickly evacuated about 8:45 a.m., just after everyone has arrived to start the day.

However, according to Richmond Fire-Rescue’s deputy fire chief Jim Wishlove, it was promptly found to be a false alarm.

“We still have one truck on scene, but there is no fire,” Wishlove told the Richmond News at around 9:30 a.m.

“There was an issue with the alarms. We are keeping one truck on site until the alarm company arrive to reset them.”
