New furnace? Why an annual service call still makes sense!

If you just bought a new furnace, you’re probably wondering why you still need that annual service call, particularly when the new unit comes with a guarantee. In short: a good quality furnace can last up to 25 years.

If you just bought a new furnace, you’re probably wondering why you still need that annual service call, particularly when the new unit comes with a guarantee.

In short: a good quality furnace can last up to 25 years. Without annual servicing, the life of that same furnace could be cut in half.

“We have a 26-point check list,” says Michael Hoang, marketing coordinator for Milani Plumbing, Drainage & Heating,Vancouver’s premier furnace servicing company. “And we go through it with you line by line. Regular annual maintenance and inspection can extend the life of your furnace system considerably—it allows us to spot small problems before they become big, costly issues.”

Things to watch out for are rattling noises, flickering pilot lights, or a scraping sound. Each symptom has a corresponding cause, says Michael, which the fully trained and licensed professionals at Milani Plumbing, Drainage & Heating are experienced in diagnosing.

“Cold people get cranky,” Michael laughs. “When annual furnace servicing is neglected, we often get frantic calls from customers that the furnace has stopped working. ‘We have children in the house,’ they tell us ‘and we’ve been without heat for several days.’ Annual servicing of the furnace can help prevent these problems from happening.”

As Vancouver’s largest furnace servicing and plumbing company, Milani Plumbing, Drainage & Heating both installs and maintains furnaces across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

“If we install your furnace,” notes Michael, “we will ask you if you’d like a reminder for the annual service. We then diarize you on our system and give you a reminder each year.”

The service call usually takes about an hour, although Michael notes that if a problem is identified, it could take up to four hours.

“Your furnace is a relatively large investment,” Michael says. “Keeping it serviced and in good working order will save you money in the long run.”
