FortisBC has issued its latest update to the massive project upgrading for its gas lines through Burnaby to Coquitlam.
And once again, Burnaby traffic will be heavily impacted by the project.
Here are the affected areas:
Lougheed Highway to Sperling Avenue
Work continues east along Lougheed Highway this week, extending to just west of Sperling Avenue.
This will mean:
- Lane closures between Holdom to Kensington Avenues, with traffic being moved to the south side of the street and reduced to one lane in each direction.
- The intersection of Sperling Avenue and Lougheed Highway is unaffected and will remain open in all directions.
Construction is anticipated to finish mid-November.
Douglas Road/Halifax Street
Work is anticipated to start this weekend on Douglas Road, between Carleton Avenue and Halifax Street. Construction will involve several phases, including:
- An initial full road closure from Carleton Avenue to just north of the Douglas Road/Halifax Street intersection.
- A second phase where the Douglas Road/Halifax Street intersection and part of Douglas Road south of the intersection will be fully closed. Local traffic will be allowed to enter surrounding businesses.
All work is expected to finished mid-November, with the intersection reopening in early November.
Delta Avenue at Lougheed Highway
The Delta Avenue and Lougheed Highway intersection has now reopened for north-south traffic. Lane closures between Delta and Holdom Avenues remain.
