Brent Hayden is the fastest swimmer in Canadian history. He is an Olympic Bronze Medalist, World Champion, Commonwealth Games Double-Gold Medalist and BC Sports Hall of Fame Inductee. Mr. Hayden was born in Maple Ridge BC, and was raised in Mission BC.
He has been living in Vancouver since 2001 when he moved here to train with the Vancouver National Swim Centre. Since retirement from sport, Brent has been active in his community and abroad. He has used swimming as his way to work with youth, through motivational speaking at schools and by running his very own series of swim camps that have taken him to communities around BC, and even Alberta and the Yukon.
Brent doesn't just credit growing up in sport for his success in the pool, but also for being brought up to be a good citizen. It is this voice that Brent wants to bring to the Vancouver Park Board. Giving our youth the opportunities they need to grow, learn core values, and making sure that we have the facilities to meet their needs, and the needs of our growing community.
