Catherine Evans: Vision Vancouver

Candidate: Vancouver Park Board
Catherine Evans
Catherine Evans.

Catherine was born in Toronto and raised in a number of North America’s great cities, and after several years travelling the world, put down permanent roots with her family in Vancouver in 1999.

Catherine believes that the public spaces that we share are increasingly important to the quality of life in our city, and that the Park Board, with the majority of Vancouver’s public spaces under its care, has a special responsibility to enhance the livability of our city.

Passionate about Vancouver and its diverse neighbourhoods, Catherine has always been active in her community. She was appointed to the Vancouver Public Library's Board of Directors in 2009, and served for three years as the Board’s Chair, overseeing an expansion of programming and services, particularly for at-risk youth. She was also PAC Chair of Point Grey Secondary School and a founding member of the BC Society for Public Education.

As a policy advisor, lawyer and senior manager in the public service in Ontario and BC for more than 15 years, she contributed to significant advances in elder law, adult guardianship, human rights, employment equity, and pay equity. Today, she is the co-owner of Ethos Strategy Group, a planning, research and public relations firm.

Catherine has a BA from Dalhousie University, a M. Div. from the University of Toronto and a LLB from York University.
