A former Vancouver Park Board Commissioner, Ian Robertson is a tireless public servant and campaigner for Vancouver’s parks and tourism operators. Robertson is the current Executive Director of the Tourism Industry Association of British Columbia and serves on the Board of Governors for the VanDusen Botanical Gardens.

He is seeking election as Councillor in the November municipal election.

First elected to Vancouver Park Board in 2005, Robertson served as its Chair in 2006 and led the Board through the most challenging time in its 100-year history – the windstorms that destroyed Stanley Park. He became known as an accessible and innovative Commissioner during his successful restoration efforts. He was re-elected to Park Board in 2008 and served until 2011, when he chose not to seek re-election to spend more time with his family.

Robertson is the former Director of Sales for world-renowned Vancouver-based tourism company Rocky Mountaineer. While there, he developed the organization’s award-winning sustainable development program and led a successful global affairs strategy.

As the Executive Director of the Tourism Industry Association of BC, Robertson advocates to government and industry on behalf of the province’s stakeholders.

Robertson is a former Parent Advisory Committee chair at Vancouver’s Southlands Elementary School and former President of Dunbar Little League.

He has been recognized for his work in Vancouver with numerous honours, including the BCIT Distinguished Alumni Award for Public Service to the Community and the BC Little League Honour Roll for Service to Little League in BC.

A graduate of Vancouver’s British Columbia Institute of Technology, Robertson resides in the Dunbar area with his wife where they proudly raised their two sons.
