Jeremy Gustafson: Cedar Party of Vancouver

Candidate: Vancouver City Council
Jeremy Gustafson
Jeremy Gustafson.

Jeremy Gustafson was born and raised on Vancouver Island, moved to Vancouver in 1994, and became a homeowner in Mount Pleasant in 2001. Jeremy grew up working on his father's fishing boat, then spent eight years in the BC casino industry, and since 2000 has worked as a grip in the local film industry.

Jeremy entered politics last year when his growing concern with the voter apathy resulting from the corporate corruption of democracy pushed him to run as an independent M.L.A. candidate in Mount Pleasant. A win against Jenny Kwan was impossible but Jeremy still achieved his goal of showing our political system is still available to working class people with little money. He spent less than two dollars per vote received by relying heavily on mainstreeting and social media.

It was through that campaign that Jeremy was enlisted by the Cedar Party to run for Vancouver City Council. Jeremy is delighted to have found a party with the same goal of ending the influence of massive campaign donations on our elected officials. With the Cedar team Jeremy is running on a platform of real transparency and engagement with communities, forming policy with ideas taken from the communities themselves.
