John Coupar was elected as a Vancouver Park Board Commissioner in November 2011.

He is seeking re-election as Commissioner in the November municipal election.

Coupar, an advocate of horticultural excellence in parks and green spaces, is well known for his successful effort to save and restore the Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park.

His key achievements as Park Board Commissioner include working to obtain capital funding for the Bloedel Conservatory roof replacement, helping to stop the paving of Hadden and Kitsilano Beach Parks and putting forward a successful motion to ensure that a Dragon Boat storage facility will get built in False Creek.

He is the Past President of Friends of the Bloedel Association and a Past Governor of VanDusen Botanical Gardens.

Coupar brings a strong business background to his candidacy. He spent many years in senior management positions in a number of Canadian corporations, and seven years ago he founded a successful marketing and branding company.

He and his wife have two adult children and live in False Creek.
