Ken Low: NPA

Ken Low.

Ken Low has been involved in community services in the Greater Vancouver area for more than four decades. Born in Hong Kong, he worked as a professional engineer for the City of White Rock and City of Vancouver until his retirement in 2010.

He now seeks election as Councillor in the November municipal election.

While with the City of Vancouver, he worked on high-profile projects such as the Chinatown Millennium Gate and Gastown Pedestrian Lighting Upgrade. He was also a member of the Transportation Planning Team for the 2010 Olympics.

A prominent member of Vancouver’s Chinese community, Low is the Co-Chair of the Canadian Alliance of Chinese Associations. He is also the former Secretary General of the Chinese Community Policing Centre, the former Vice-Chairman of the Vancouver Chinese Benevolent Association, the former Director of the Vancouver Cultural Centre, the Immediate Past President of the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club and the former Director of the Vancouver Chinatown Merchants Association.

Low is also an influential figure in martial arts in Canada. He founded the Western Canadian Chinese Martial Arts Association and Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) BC. He is the current President of the Canada International Health Qigong Association and the Canada Sport Sanshou Federation.

Low has represented Canada on its international Wushu and Sport Muay Thai Teams. He has hosted the West Coast Can-Am Martial Arts Championships annually in Greater Vancouver for the past 35 years.

Low lives in Vancouver with his wife and has two children.
