Penny Noble.

Penny Noble, a former teacher and a public-relations and marketing veteran, is running for the Vancouver School Board in the November municipal election.

Prior to her PR work, Noble taught at the secondary and elementary-school levels in both Canada and the United Kingdom, and taught with the Vancouver School Board. With that background, she maintains a keen interest in the city’s public-educations sector.

She operates her own consulting practice, providing public affairs, communications and fund development services to a variety of clients. She is also Executive Director of Bike to Work BC Society.

Noble has served as Senior Director of Public Affairs for the BC Cancer Foundation and has held senior communications posts with Langara College, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, and positions within the tourism sector.

In 2012, she launched and organized the Heritage Vancouver Garden Tour (now in its third year) as a fundraiser for Heritage Vancouver. She has lived in a variety of cities in Europe and Canada and believes Vancouverites can learn from their approach to transportation, history and culture.

She is an accredited public relations practitioner (APR) and is a past president of the Canadian Public Relations Society Vancouver. She has won awards from several PR groups.

She is active in sea swimming, tennis, skiing, gardening and the restoration of heritage houses.
