Ralph Fraatz: COPE

Ralph Fraatz.

Ralph Fraatz has lived in Vancouver since 1957. He grew up in east Vancouver, attended public school and graduated from John Oliver High School. After two years at Langara College, he transferred to UBC to complete a Bachelor of Education. Prior to starting his teaching career, Ralph was employed by the City of Vancouver Water Works Department and was a card carrying member of CUPE Local 1004.

From 1979-2011 Ralph was a teacher with the VSB, hired to work with Special Needs students. Ralph has been a strong union supporter and served as a VESTA Staff Rep. for three years. Since retiring from teaching, Ralph has been an active community volunteer at the Kitsilano/Fairview Community Policing Center and has coordinated the CPC's Speed Watch program.

As a Vancouver School Board Trustee, Ralph will advocate support for students with special needs and First Nations students, as well as reinstatement of Junior Kindergarten.
