Rob Wynen: Vision Vancouver

Rob Wynen was elected to the Vancouver School Board in 2011. Rob is chair of the Vancouver School Boards Staff and Personnel Committee and Vice-Chair of the Building Services Committee.

Rob is a career health professional with community leadership experience and a commitment to health and recreation as part of an educational foundation for both a sustainable city and a successful future for our children. He is an expert in the relationship between urban design and promoting healthy, active transportation. In both his career as a health and lifestyle consultant and in his volunteer activities, Rob has worked to promote student health.

Rob’s community work includes founding and leading the West End Residents Association where he worked on advocacy for cycling, pedestrian safety, park redesign, and developing the first community garden in the downtown core. He served on the boards of BEST (Better Environmentally Sound Transportation), the Pedestrian Action Coalition, chair of the Lord Nelson Parent Advisory Committee and chair of the Vancouver Active Transportation Policy Committee. Rob is experienced with public processes related to community facilities, including budgeting, design, and policy-making.

Rob is an avid bike commuter and gardener, an electronic music deejay, kayaker and bee keeper. He lives in the West End with his wife and son who will be attending King George Secondary.
