Long committed to showcasing Vancouver’s diverse attractions, tourism-industry veteran Sarah Kirby-Yung is seeking election as Park Board Commissioner in Vancouver’s November municipal election.

Kirby-Yung is currently Executive Director, Marketing and Communications for Coast Hotels, a Vancouver-based international hotel group. She has also served as Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for Tourism Vancouver, as well as Vice-President, Marketing and Communications for the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre, where she profiled its conservation, research, and education programs.

Kirby-Yung was involved in the international branding of Vancouver in advance of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and was instrumental in developing Dine Out Vancouver, which is now Canada’s largest restaurant festival.

A long time advocate for vibrant and connected communities, she has served as marketing chair for Vancouver’s annual Celebration of Light, and on the Tourism and Hospitality Management Advisory board for Royal Roads University, where she also taught MBA and Commerce students.
She was a member of the City of Vancouver’s Creative City Task Force, where she assisted in the development and adoption of a Creative City Strategy. Subsequently, she co-chaired the development of a Cultural Tourism Plan that was adopted by Vancouver City Council.

Kirby-Yung holds a degree from UBC, a marketing management diploma from BCIT, and an MBA from Royal Roads University.

Kirby-Yung lives in the Oakridge/Cambie neighbourhood with her husband.
