Susan Bhatha: Vancouver First

Candidate: Vancouver School Board
Susan Bhatha
Susan Bhatha.

Susan K Bhatha is born and raised in Vancouver. She is a full time stay at home mother of two and wife to a loving husband. She comes with a very impressive resume in community work – her undying passion for community work improvement has led her to hold a variety of volunteer positions within her community where she has truly made a difference in the lives of others.

She has been part of the Parent Advisory Committee at John Henderson Elementary School since 2010 and moved into an executive role in 2012. Furthermore, she has been an active member and advisor to the executive team of Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen (2011) – an organization dedicated to serving warm meals to the homeless on the downtown eastside in Vancouver on a weekly basis.

In the summer of 2013, Susan played an integral role in the launch of SikhRI’s “Vidia” program in British Columbia which is a student led mentorship program for university students that links students to professionals in their field of study. She currently holds a volunteer position with the Environmental and Rentals Board at Sunset Community Center.

For the past ten years watching her daughter’s go through the public school system that she once was a part of has disheartened her – the system has lost track of it’s priorities. The lack of funding for schools (playgrounds) is affecting the fundamental development of our children that is crucial to their well being. She feels that parents should not have to fundraise to replace playgrounds that are supposed to be part of the educational system that all Vancouverites expect and deserve.

Susan’s volunteered for various candidates during the past two federal and provincial elections. It was at this time her passion for politics began. Now she truly believes that she could and wants to make a difference in her community. Her resume is vey impressive, taking on community work along with meeting the challenges of a stay at home mother. On November 15th, if you're looking for that person who has a proven track record of producing results, then Susan is your candidate. Vote Vancouver First.
