Dr. Suzanne Scott is making her first foray into electoral politics as a candidate for Vancouver City Council in the November municipal election.

She brings senior experience in the private sector, government and post-secondary institutions to her candidacy. She has worked for TD Bank in Electronic Banking and Corporate Communications, for the federal government as a communications consultant for the Canadian International Development Agency and for UNICEF-Bangladesh. Most recently, she was Executive Co-ordinator to the Dean of UBC’s Faculty of Education.

Active in community service, Scott has held volunteer leadership roles with the Britannia Community Services Centre, where she was a Director, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC, where she acted as Auction Chair for the 2014 Heart of Gold Gala.

Scott has also worked on municipal, provincial, and federal political campaigns. She completed the Women’s Campaign School in 2005 and in 2013 was voted by her peers as the Speaker of the House during the University of British Columbia’s inaugural Summer Institute for Future Legislators.

Scott holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from UBC, where she focused on Canadian philanthropy and higher education. Her M.A. thesis at the University of Toronto examined an innovative UNICEF initiative to educate young female labourers in Bangladesh. She also holds a Fundraising Management Certificate from the B.C. Institute of Technology.

Scott and her husband have three children.
