Tony Tang: Vision Vancouver

Candidate: Vancouver City Council
Tony Tang
Tony Tang.

Tony Tang was first elected to Vancouver City Council in 2011. A professional engineer with a Master’s degree from the University of British Columbia, Tony also studied art through the Alberta College of Art. He came to Canada in 1968 and is a long-time Vancouver resident who has been devoted to community service for over 20 years. He has an array of working experience in the home building industry and extensive insight into small business.

Prior to being elected to City Council, Tony was twice appointed to the Vancouver Board of Variance and served as Chair for one term to adjudicate appeals regarding zoning and other bylaw matters. In Council, Tony is the liaison Councillor for the Vancouver Seniors Advisory Committee, the Vancouver City Planning Commission, the Gastown Historic Area Planning Committee and the Chinatown Historic Area Planning Committee.

Tony is compassionate with a keen interest in fairness. He navigates challenges with a pragmatic, balanced approach. Tony wants to continue working to make Vancouver an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable city; a caring and inclusive city that is affordable for all families, through smart management of land-use planning, city budgets and service delivery. He is proud to be the driving force to usher in the Age-Friendly Action Plan, the city’s first comprehensive plan of this kind for the growing population of seniors in Vancouver.

Tony lives with his wife and their chocolate lab in the Quilchena neighbourhood, where he has lived for over 21 years.
