What’s a venue to do when they’re totally and unexpectedly grounded? The Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish — sidelined due to the unprecedented vandalism that brought the operation literally to the ground this summer — is rising to the occasion by making use of their space for some fun fall events.

The gondola is launching a new drive-in movie series, which will take place Friday and Saturday nights in October.

Classics and family-friendly flicks will get airtime in the parking lot of the Sea to Sky Gondola, where the Basecamp Café will offer food and beverages.

Things kick off with A Dog’s Way Home, including scenes filmed at the gondola.

Audiences are recommended to arrive ahead of time to secure a parking spot and snacks. Admission is $20 (including tax) per vehicle. Parking opens at 4 p.m., and closes at 6:30 p.m.; screenings start at 7 p.m.

Lawn chair seating is also available for $10 per person, but you must bring your own seat.

Here’s the full movie schedule:

  • Friday, Oct. 4 – A Dog’s Way Home
  • Saturday, Oct. 5 – Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Friday, Oct. 11 – Toy Story 4
  • Saturday, Oct. 12 – Spider Man: Far From Home
  • Friday, Oct. 18 – Aladdin
  • Saturday, Oct. 19 – The Goonies
  • Friday, Oct. 25 – Hocus Pocus
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 – Scream

Additionally, the Sea to Sky Gondola will continue the tradition of offering Halloween fun at the venue. Costumed candy collectors of all ages are welcome to join in for seasonal activities and, of course, trick or treating on the Shannon Falls Connector Trail. The fun begins at noon on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Sea to Sky Gondola is aiming to re-open following extensive repairs in the spring of 2020.
